He beat up his 61 year-old mother and his sister.
Too much stress, perhaps, from dealing with The Joker over the weekend.
Or, more likely, from living in Gotham City.
Some will probably claim it was his evil twin. But I think it's been obvious for a long time that Batman has some issues - and a penchant for violence. It was only a matter of time.
Still, beating up your mum and sis. . . . My, how the mighty have fallen.
UPDATE: Things are getting really weird. Batman "is also the stepson of author and feminist leader Gloria Steinem." Woah.
I thought Bruce Wayne's parents had been murdered. How, then, could his father have married Ms. Steinem? And, for that matter, how could Batman beat up his mother? Or maybe Batman killed his father without realizing who he was, married his own mother, and will blind himself in the next movie. Or maybe it was just his Uncle Ben who was killed. I'm getting confused.
UPDATE 2: Oh yeah, Batman also denies beating up his mother and sister.
No word yet if Batman has ever beaten up Ms. Steinem.

Have you seen the new Batman movie yet? I still like Michael Keaton's Batman best.
I don't see movies starring thugs who beat up their mother. :-)
No, I haven't. And I don't think I will. Just tired of the whole superhero thing. Even Batman, who was my favorite.
Liam saw it and really enjoyed it.
But then maybe he's the kind of guy who likes movies starring thugs who beat up their mother. Probably the dissertation driving him into a sadistic mindset.
Did you find the new scabulous page?
I don't remember Batman beating up his mother or Gloria Steinem. I do remember the Joker talking about his father as he throttled Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT).
Are you sure that wasn't Dick Cheney?
Leahy.
I meant, are you sure it wasn't Cheney threatening Leahy. A political joke. Cheney as The Joker. A failed political joke, I guess.
But thanks for the link. I didn't know Leahy had such a history with Batman.
Oh, you're right -- I forgot that Leahy was the guy who was on the receiving end of Cheney's graciousness. But I am sure -- The Joker is a much more humane and morally evolved individual than Dick Cheney.
McCain's snide laugh reminds me of the Joker.
No, the Joker is a much more competent criminal than McCain.
My daughters saw the new Batman. Raved about it. The said Heath Ledger was amazing as The Joker.
Turns out Batman *didn't* beat up his mumsy, but he did yell at her rather loudly after she said some rather offensive things about his wife. Then they all packed off and merrily went to the opening in Spain.
On a keener note, there are supposedly some great fight scenes using the martial art Keysi, which was developed by two Jeet Kune Do instructors (JKD was the MA Bruce Lee created). My sifu, Tom Chan, approved of the fight scenes, said they were well done and realistic, and he's picky. Doesn't even like Jacky Chan and Bruce Lee, and is iffy about Jet Li.
